Directors’ Reports

  1. Steward report:
    1. Quick report on the state of organization: All is better than last year and we are on track!
    2. We are considering aligning with another group to have protection for information and for events. EmGee has been doing some research about it and we will talk about it.
    3. Levels of membership clarified in discussion.
      1. Outer circle members are everyone who comes to anything.
      2. Inner circle expects a bit more responsibility and that they will be initiates,
    4. We will try to be more clear about calendaring events
    5. We will remind about hosting. We encourage others to host events and to conduct the rituals.
  2. Clerical director:
    1. The current year and a day classes have better student retention than previous ones. This may be due to the change in payment of tuition: there seems to be more commitment with the tuition collected up front.
    2. Looking forward to the next ordination series.
  3. Communications Director:
    1. Joe reported that he met with Will and that we will look at changing our web site.
    2. Renewal of the “lyceumoftrees.com” domain name is coming up soon.
    3. Construction of the new web site has begun.
  4. Treasurer report:
    1. We are looking more sound this year than we have for the past few years.
    2. We have $1751.00
    3. We owe $480 on rentals for the two classroom spaces (Gresham and Salem). These are being paid quarterly.
    4. PO box rental and corporation dues coming in June.

Business, old and new

  1. By laws revision proposal: The bylaws were adopted in 2003 and need to be brought in line with the way actual practice has evolved.
    1. Gyelle led a point by point discussion of proposed changes. There was significant feedback on several points.
    2. Proposed changes will be sent out on the group email after the February Board meeting on 2/13.
    3. The proposed changes will be voted on at the March Board meeting.
  2. Lyceum has received received correspondence from an inmate at the Farmington correctional institute in Minnesota.
    1. Correspondent is asking for more information about Lyceum.
    2. We would love to have anyone who has experience.
    3. Roz does prison ministries and she took it on.

I was born at a very young age but I am older than that now. As a young man I drove half a million miles in Boston taxis. Then I moved to Oregon and developed two careers as an RN over 28 years: the first as a clinical nurse mostly in ICU, then later in Nursing Service Administration as an Informatics RN (but before that term was coined). In between RN work, I picked up an ADSc Business Computer Programming and provided PC network installation, maintenance and repair for 10 years. I eased into retirement beginning in 2003 and was fully retired in 2010. But I have continued to develop and manage websites and my skills are current with HTTP/CSS, PHP, Apache, SQL, etc. I have a strong preference for Ubuntu Linux boxes and Dokuwiki websites. I have a strong dislike of WordPress, which, although it is technically very well done, has created one of the worst cesspool ecosystems I have ever encountered. Still it is sometimes the best tool for the job, more is the pity. I have followed pagan paths for 50 years and I have about 3 yards of bookshelves devoted to pagan thought and practice. I am a perfectly eclectic technopagan heavily influenced by Victor Anderson's Feri practice but comfortable with Gardner derivatives, Zennist ways, and totemic/shamanist practices. I have recently been made the Steward of the Lyceum Of Trees. So I am Will Steward, Steward. Make of that whatever you will.
